Pappinisseri Panchayath Visha Chikitsa Society began operations on January 1, 1964, as a philanthropic institution led by Sri. M.V. Raghavan, former Minister for Co-operation and Ports, Govt. of Kerala, and then president of Pappinisseri Grama Panchayath. By 1973, it had been registered under the Charitable Societies Act and was still in operation.
M.K. Ummerkoya Memorial Hospital Complex and M.K. Ummerkoya Memorial Ayurveda Pharmacy expand opportunities for Ayurvedic specialization and research at Parassinikkadavu Ayurveda Medical College.
MVR Ayurveda Medical College has plans for future growth as a multi-specialty college and research centre. Members of the society are working around the clock to make MVRAMC one of the greatest Ayurveda Medical colleges in Kerala. The college offers graduate-level education in BAMS and paramedical courses, B.Sc in Ayurveda Nursing, B.Pharm (Ayurveda), and one-year Govt.-approved certificate programmes in Masseur, Pharmacy, and Nursing. All departments are prepared for the five-and-a-half-year BAMS programmes, and they have complete facilities to begin post-graduate programmes.
