Himachal Pradesh AYUSH Counselling 2026 is the admission process through which candidates get a seat in BAMS and BHMS undergraduate courses in Government and private Ayurvedic and Homoeopathy colleges of Himachal Pradesh. It is conducted by Atal Medical & Research University (AMRU), Mandi, on behalf of the Government of Himachal Pradesh, Department of AYUSH, through a Centralized Counselling Committee.

Admission is based entirely on the merit of NEET UG 2026, and covers both State Quota (Group-I, 85% of seats) and Central/All India Quota (Group-II, 15% of seats) admissions, except for the All India Quota seats of Rajiv Gandhi Government Post Graduate Ayurvedic College, Paprola, which are counselled separately by the authority designated by the Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India.

AMRU released its official prospectus for Himachal Pradesh AYUSH Counselling 2026 on 18.09.2026, and online registration opened the same day. Due to technical issues faced by candidates while submitting the online form, the University issued a notice on 21.09.2026 extending the last date for submission of the 1st round application to 23.09.2026.

Himachal Pradesh AYUSH Counselling 2026 Conducting Authority

Himachal Pradesh AYUSH Counselling 2026 is conducted by Atal Medical & Research University (AMRU), Mandi, on behalf of the Government of Himachal Pradesh, Department of AYUSH, through a Centralized Counselling Committee constituted by the Director, AYUSH, Himachal Pradesh. The university handles:

• Counselling for 85% State Quota seats and Group-II (All India Quota) seats in private colleges, for all affiliated BAMS/BHMS colleges
• Counselling for 85% State Quota seats at the Government college (Rajiv Gandhi Govt. Post Graduate Ayurvedic College, Paprola)

The 15% All India Quota seats specifically at the Government college (Rajiv Gandhi Govt. Post Graduate Ayurvedic College, Paprola) are counselled separately, by the authority designated by the Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India.

Eligibility for counselling (qualifying NEET UG 2026 with the minimum percentile) is different from eligibility for a specific quota. Candidates who do not meet the eligibility criteria for State Quota seats are still considered under All India Quota seats in private colleges, if interested, provided they meet the general eligibility conditions.

Follow these steps to register for Himachal Pradesh AYUSH Counselling 2026 on www.amruhp.ac.in:

• Confirm your eligibility against the prospectus before starting registration.
• Use a laptop or computer with the latest version of Chrome, Internet Explorer, Firefox or similar browser & mobile devices are not recommended, to avoid technical issues.
• Click "Admission" then "Apply for Admission and Counselling" then "BAMS/BHMS" on the official website, or use the direct link provided.
• Register using an authenticated mobile number and a unique email ID that has not been used before in the system. Since registration is one-time, save the system-generated login credentials carefully.
• Fill in Admission Quota and Category, Candidate's Name, Father's Name, NEET UG Roll Number, Email ID and Mobile Number. These details must exactly match your NEET UG 2026 details, or you will not be able to register.
• Verify your email and mobile number using the OTP sent to each, and enter the captcha code to complete registration.
• Pay the application fee online. Remember that paying the fee alone does not mean your application is complete.
• Fill in personal details, address details, eligibility and category details, and qualification details.
• Upload your photograph (taken on or after 1st September 2026, up to 40 KB) and signature (in running handwriting, black ink, up to 20 KB), along with relevant category certificates.
• All eligible State Quota candidates must compulsorily also fill the Management Quota category and college choice, if they wish to be considered for it, a seat under Management Quota is allotted only if this choice is filled.
• Review every entry carefully, since details like Date of Birth, Category, State of Domicile and Qualification are treated as final once submitted, and cannot be changed later.
• Click "Final Submit" and download the PDF of your completed application. Only after this final submission and generation of the confirmation copy is your application considered complete.

Applications that are incomplete or not finally submitted by the closing date, regardless of documents uploaded or fee paid are reset or deleted from the portal. If such candidates wish to participate in a later round, they must register again with a new unique email ID and pay the application fee again.

The application fee, once remitted, is not refunded under any circumstances, including if a candidate deposits the wrong fee inadvertently. If a candidate's ineligibility is detected at any stage, the application is cancelled without notice, and the fee already paid is not refunded.

Security/Token Amount

Himachal Pradesh AYUSH Counselling 2026 does not charge a security deposit at the time of the 1st round of registration. Instead, a Security/Token Amount of Rs. 25,000/- applies from the 2nd round onward, as per Ministry of AYUSH guidelines:

• Candidates who are allotted a BAMS/BHMS seat afresh during the 2nd round or any subsequent round must remit this token amount while filling their choices, or no seat will be allotted to them.
• Candidates already admitted in the 1st round are not required to pay this token amount again for subsequent rounds.
• If a candidate does not join the allotted college within the stipulated time, this amount is forfeited.
• If a candidate is not allotted a seat in any round, the token amount is refunded in full, without deduction, after the admission process is complete, to the same account from which it was paid.

This is not the same as a college-level "Security" fee, which is a separate, smaller, refundable amount charged as part of the college fee structure (see the Tuition and College Fee section below).

Candidates must satisfy themselves about their eligibility before applying, since the university treats all self-declared entries as final and does not entertain requests to change category, domicile or qualification details after submission.

Himachal Pradesh AYUSH Counselling 2026 Choice Filling and Counselling Procedure

Once the merit list is displayed, Himachal Pradesh AYUSH Counselling 2026 works through an online system of provisional allocation based on merit-cum-choice. Here is how it works:

• Candidates log in to their account on www.amruhp.ac.in using their registration credentials.
• Candidates fill choices/preferences of course, college and quota (State Quota, All India Quota, or Management Quota where applicable), in order of preference.
• Candidates can fill choices even for colleges/courses not currently reflected in the displayed vacancy position, since seats can open up later due to shifting between rounds, it is not mandatory to fill only what is currently shown as vacant.
• Provisional allocation is made purely by merit-cum-choice against available seats.
• After provisional and then final allocation, candidates can download the provisional admission letter and must report to the Principal of the allotted college with all original documents for verification.
• If a candidate is satisfied with the seat allotted in the 1st round, they are not required to participate in subsequent rounds.
• Shifting or upgradation from one college/course to another is possible in the 2nd and 3rd rounds, based on fresh choices filled by the candidate.

Himachal Pradesh AYUSH Counselling Rounds

Himachal Pradesh AYUSH Counselling 2026 is conducted in the following rounds:

• Round 1 – Registration, merit list, choice filling, provisional and final allocation, and reporting for admission. Candidates not required to pay the security/token amount at this stage.
• Round 2 – Available to all candidates on the merit list, including those satisfied with Round 1 who don't need to participate again. Fresh choices are filled for vacant seats; shifting/upgradation between colleges and courses is allowed. Freshly allotted candidates must pay the Rs. 25,000/- security/token amount. Allocation is done category-wise.
• Round 3 – Similar process to Round 2. Candidates satisfied with their Round 1 or Round 2 seat need not participate. If a Round-2-admitted candidate participates in Round 3 but doesn't get upgraded, they retain their Round 2 seat and category. Remaining unfilled reserved seats are converted to unreserved after this round, and stay open in all further rounds.
• Stray Vacancy Round – For candidates not yet admitted and eligible to participate. Candidates admitted in the Government Ayurvedic college are not eligible for this round. No inter-college shifting is allowed among private colleges during this round, though shifting from a private college to the Government college is allowed based on merit-cum-choice.

For All India Quota (AIQ) seats in private ASU&H colleges specifically, there are only two rounds, if seats remain vacant after Round 2 of AIQ counselling, they convert to State Government Quota and are filled as per state rules.

The reservation structure is defined college-wise as absolute seat numbers within Group-I (State Quota), rather than as a single fixed percentage across all colleges. Here is the pattern, using Rajiv Gandhi Govt. Post Graduate Ayurvedic College, Paprola (55 Group-I seats) as an illustration, since it is the most detailed example in the prospectus:

Other colleges (Shiva Ayurvedic, Awasthi Ayurvedic, Solan Homoeopathic, Abhilashi Ayurvedic) follow the same broad reservation categories, with seat numbers proportional to their own Group-I intake, as detailed in the seat matrix section above. Key rules that apply across all colleges:

• Candidates apply within their own declared category and cannot change it once submitted.
• If SC or ST seats are not filled, they are interchanged between the two categories first, then go to general category of the respective group.
• PwD seats that remain vacant due to unavailability of eligible candidates convert to General category in the subsequent round.
• There is no domicile requirement for All India Quota (Group-II) seats in private colleges.

Himachal Pradesh AYUSH Counselling Admission Process After Allotment

Once a seat is allotted under Himachal Pradesh AYUSH Counselling 2026, candidates need to:

• Download the provisional admission letter from www.amruhp.ac.in after allocation is displayed.
• Report to the Principal of the allotted college along with all original documents and the printout of the confirmation copy of the online application form, plus self-attested photocopies of all required certificates.
• Undergo verification of original documents by the Admission Committee constituted by the college Principal (which includes University and Director AYUSH representation).
• Complete medical fitness requirements and pay applicable fees.
• Report again to the college for final joining once verification is complete.

If a candidate does not follow this process within the stipulated period, the allotted seat is cancelled automatically without intimation, and the seat becomes vacant for the next round, with any applicable penalty (such as forfeiture of the token amount, where applicable) imposed as per the prospectus.

Medical Examination and Registration

• Selected candidates are called for a medical examination and document verification at the college, at their own expense.
• BAMS students must get vaccinated with the anti-Hepatitis B vaccine at their own expense, within 6 months of admission.
• Students should also be vaccinated for COVID-19 if not already done, and must submit a COVID-19 test report before admission.
• The standard of physical fitness follows Appendix A-9 of the prospectus; conditions such as colour blindness are considered medically unfit for BAMS admission, given the physician/surgeon duties involved.
• Candidates from other universities/boards must produce an equivalency certificate from AMRU or the H.P. Board of School Education, as applicable, before admission.
• After admission, students must register with AMRU on payment of the prescribed registration fee.

Himachal Pradesh AYUSH Counselling 2026 Merit List

The merit list for Himachal Pradesh AYUSH Counselling 2026 is prepared as follows:

• AMRU draws a combined merit list as well as category-wise merit lists, based purely on the All India NEET UG 2026 rank of candidates who have submitted a complete application with fee and obtained the confirmation copy printout within the stipulated period.
• This is referred to in the prospectus as the "AMRU Merit Ranking."
• Minimum qualifying marks for 2026-27 are 50th percentile for General & Other categories, 40th percentile for SC/ST/OBC, 45th percentile for PwD-General, and 40th percentile for PwD-SC/ST/OBC.
• Candidates who do not fulfil State Quota eligibility are still considered under All India Quota merit for private colleges, if interested.
• Being listed in the merit list does not confer any right to admission, final admission depends on fulfilment of eligibility criteria, seat availability, and permission from the Ministry of AYUSH for the college concerned.

Seat allotment under Himachal Pradesh AYUSH Counselling 2026 is merit-cum-choice based:

• Provisional allocation is displayed first, followed by final allocation for each round.
• After final allocation, candidates must report to the allotted college with original documents and the application confirmation copy for verification by the Admission Committee.
• In the 2nd and subsequent rounds, allocation is done category-wise; unfilled reserved seats are converted to unreserved (open merit) after specific stages of the 3rd round, and remain open thereafter.
• All India Quota (AIQ) counselling for private ASU&H colleges has two rounds; if AIQ seats remain unfilled after the 2nd round, they convert to State Government Quota seats.
• If a candidate does not report and complete the admission process within the stipulated time after allotment, the seat is cancelled automatically without notice and declared vacant for the next round.
