Government Ayurved College Guwahati

Government Ayurvedic College Guwahati in Jalukbari is the first institute of the Indian system of medicine in India’s entire North East region. The college is affiliated with Srimanta Sankardeva University of Health Sciences, Assam.

It was founded in the year 1948. The college is located in Jalukbari, around 800 meters from the National Highway. Previously, the College was affiliated with Gauhati University in Assam, and the old batches of students are still working at this University. 

The teaching, research, and examination functions of the College were transferred to the Srimanta Sankardeva University of Health Sciences, Assam, with influence from 2010, and the syllabus and curriculum prescribed by the National Commission for Indian System Of Medicine- NCISM, the statutory body of the Indian System of Medicine, were adopted by the University.

The college offers a bachelor’s degree in Ayurveda medicine and surgery and is taught by an experienced group of professional Ayurvedic practitioners. The course includes teachings on some of the uncommon characteristics of Ayurveda shastra. Ayurvedic medicine gurus who have achieved eminence through years of research are present in the college to guide the students.
