National Homoeopathy Research Institute in Mental Health Kottayam

National Homoeopathy Research Institute in Mental Health Kottayam, formerly known as the Central Research Institute for Homoeopathy, Kottayam established in1974 ;  Institute under the Central Council for Research in Homoeopathy (CCRH), Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India, has been providing quality services to patients and conducting clinical research, particularly in the field of psychiatry, for the past 46 years. This is the only Institute in India that treats psychiatric disorders and has an inpatient department that offers Homoeopathic treatment through CCRH.

This institute was founded in 1974 with the goal of advancing homoeopathic research and education in Kerala. The former Homoeopathic Research Centre, founded in 1968 by His Holiness Swamy Athuradas, was taken over by the Central Council for Indian Medicine and Homoeopathy (CCRIMH) in 1973 and established as a grant-in-aid Regional Research Institute with a 25-bed IPD in 1974. When CCRIMH was divided into CCRAS, CCRUM, CCRYN, and CCRH in 1978, this Institute was absorbed into CCRH.

In 1982, it was upgraded to the Central Research Institute for Homoeopathy, with 50 beds. The Institute began operations in 2009 in its new building, which was built on 1.78 acres of land allotted by the Kerala government. Following that, the State Government allotted 7.37 acres of additional land for its future growth and development.

In 2016, the Institute was renamed the National Homoeopathy Research Institute in Mental Health (NHRIMH) in order to introduce academic courses to raise academic standards in Homeopathy while also conducting quality research. The Institute is responsible for offering a Postgraduate Course in Psychiatry and Practice of Medicine specialties, as well as a Ph.D. Course and paramedical courses. The Ph.D. and paramedical courses are being considered for approval.
